Bittersweet - Hercules
Bittersweet - Hercules, Celastrus scandens 'Hercules', is the male of a vigorously growing vine, often used for covering fences. The bright red and yellow fruits have a lovely bicolor effect; perfect in dried arrangements. It displays lovely golden leaves in the fall. 'Hercules' is the male bittersweet; plant one for every five 'Diana' plants to ensure fruiting. Hercules grows best in full sun and tolerates all types of soil, including drying soil. It's better to plant it in poor soil, because in a fertile soil it can become too expansive. Hercules Bittersweet is frost hardy and only rarely attacked by pests and diseases. It responds well to pruning. Vines add beauty to any landscape because of their sheer versatility. Whether climbing walls or arbors, along fences or up trees - or even along the ground - vines have the potential to add flowers and fragrance to any space. They are especially well suited for difficult spots. (Click Merchant link below for full description)
