Chamomile - Organic
Matricaria German (USDA Organic) Chamomile, Matricaria recutita 'German', is a low daisy-like flower that grows 2 - 8 inches tall. It has many branched stems with finely divided leaves that give it an almost feathery look. The flowers are highly aromatic when crushed and are used to cleanse and soothe the skin. German Chamomile is very affective for treating sensitive, dry, chapped skin and used to treat digestive problems since the 1st century AD. It is also valuable for treating pain, indigestion, acidity, gas, gastritis, bloating, and colic. Chamomile is easy to cultivate and will grow in virtually any soil with decent drainage. It prefers full sun and requires some moisture to grow. Once it goes to seed, you will always have more of it. It is usually spring sown, but in warmer regions it can be sown in the late fall for an earlier spring harvest. This plant can be a perennial in zones 9-11. In zones 3-8 it is an annual only.
