Clematis - Andromeda
Clematis Andromeda, Clematis 'Andromeda', is an exciting new clematis that has large creamy pink flowers that have vivid darker rose-pink centers on the sepals. It has a distinctive, rich pink stripe down the center of each tepal . Clematis 'Andromeda' is a moderately fast growing cultivar that blooms semi-double flowers in May and June and then reblooms with large single flowers in September! Clematis 'Andromeda' needs a supporting structure to grow properly but will also grow over large shrubs, over walls, cover stumps, and make perfect cover ups for unsightly service areas. Clematis is easy to grow in a rich, porous, alkaline soil with plenty of room for the roots to spread. Best performance is when the tops are in full sunlight and the roots are shaded, so apply a generous mulch or a shallow-rooted ground cover near the base of the vine. Very reliable performers once established; they take a season or two to get going. Groom this plant after first flowering by cutting back the top one-third to one-half of some stems.
