Honeysuckle - Serotina
Honeysuckle - Serotina, Lonicera periclymenum 'Serotina', bears multitudes of spidery-looking, fuchsia-colored buds, which open into pink, sweet-smelling bugles that later fade to a creamy salmon color. It is an excellent grower, and its sumptuous flowers permeate the air with a delectable, intoxicating fragrance. You can prune this vigorous semideciduous vine to make it more shrublike, or let its bluish green foliage climb a trellis, pergola, arbor, or fence. Serotina was given an Award of Garden Merit by the Royal Horticultural Society in Great Britain in 1993. It grows easily in a wide variety of soil types and is not fussy about lime or acidic soils. Serotina prefers a moist, loamy soil, but will easily adapt to most situations; flowers best in full sun or partial shade. Hummingbirds love to sip on the small amounts of nectar at the base of the flowers, hence the name honeysuckle. (Click Merchant link below for full description)
